Cooking & Food Waste

The average American wastes $1800 worth of food every year and the total cost of U.S. food waste is about $218 billion per year. Not only is food waste a financial problem, but it is also an environmental problem. When food waste ends up in the landfill, it releases methane which is more potent than carbon dioxide. Food waste accounts for 6-8 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. Here at SnapChef, we recognized these issues and realized we needed to make a change. Whether its food you don’t get the chance to eat before it goes bad or extra ingredients you have laying around that you don’t use, SnapChef helps you reclaim that value by turning what you have into meals.
